POWER OF YOUR WORDS

The Ancient Secret to Shaping Your Reality

We often think of language merely as a tool for communication, but what if your words are, in fact, the blueprint for your world? Language is reality; it is a fundamental tool that filters experiences, and the words we choose define how we see the world and the kind of reality we wish to engage with. Philosopher Ludwig Vidkinstein asserted that language serves as the frame of reality, defining our mental boundaries. As he noted, a person can remain trapped in a room with an unlocked door simply because their linguistic frame prevents them from realizing they should pull rather than push—that's the power language holds to either keep a door invisible or show you the handle.

The Cosmic Energy of Sound

In the Vic philosophy, words are not seen merely as sounds, but as Shakti (energy), Shabda, and creation itself. It is stated in the Van Sutra that sound is the origin of all objects of material possession. Furthermore, sound (Shabda) is the foundational energy of creation, and the entire universe unfolds because of sound vibration. This process directly reflects how human speech also shapes one’s personal universe.

Creation, according to Siddha philosophy, unfolds through four layered stages of Vak (speech):

  1. Paravak: Pure consciousness, which remains silent and undivided.
  2. Pashanti: The inner vision or the first glimpse of reality.
  3. Madhyama: Thought taking shape as inner speech.
  4. Vaikhari: Spoken sound or audible words.

This means creation moves from silence to sound, and from essence to expression. Therefore, every word you speak begins as pure awareness and eventually emerges as sound, making your speech a tiny reenactment of the cosmic creation process.

Programming Your Personal Universe

Your words do not just describe your life; they are actively programming it. This concept is powerfully illustrated when you choose phrases that either open possibilities or create dead ends. Consider the difference between saying "I can't" (a dead end) and "I'm learning" (an open road). You are either building a cage or opening a window through your choice of words.

The power of focused language is why the Vedas refer to highly potent words as Mantra—speaking life through words. Mantras are words handed down through tradition, and their mere utterance can lead to realization. These words carry consciousness, and consciousness arranges your reality. For instance, certain mantras are crafted with precision to produce a specific effect, whether for material enjoyment or spiritual knowledge, serving as a way of alignment or "tuning the mind like an instrument". Ultimately, your words shape your mind, your mind shapes your actions, and your actions shape your destiny.

Choosing Interpretation Over Catastrophe

Words also carry emotions, and changing a single descriptor can shift your entire energy. If you call a looming event "exciting" instead of "scary," your body may relax, your confidence might rise, and you begin moving forward instead of shrinking back.

This focus on interpretation is key to mastering reality. As philosopher Nietzsche noted, "there are no facts, only interpretations". Similarly, the Stoic Epictetus taught that events themselves do not upset us—our judgments do, and those judgments start with the words we use. If you call a challenge a "catastrophe," you will feel defeated. If you call it a "test," you feel ready. By carefully choosing your words, you choose your interpretation, which in turn shapes your response, your resilience, and ultimately your experience of life.

Mastering Thought, Mastering Reality

We must be vigilant about both the words we consume and the words we use for ourselves. Bruce Lee advised that you should never speak negatively about yourself, "even as a joke," because your body does not know the difference. Words are energy and they cast spells—that’s why we call it “spelling”.

Because reality is not solid or fixed—it shifts and changes forms like water—it will become whatever your mind names it.

To protect your reality:

  • Remove negative self-talk and negative comments from those who do not believe in you.
  • Speak only good and kind words to yourself and others.
  • Remember that to master words is to master thought.

When you choose phrases that open doors and help you move forward, guiding your language from negative to neutral and from neutral to positive, you are not escaping reality—you are building a version of it that nobody can shake.
